Privacy Policy

The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a chess training service, we don't sell your data, we don't run ads, and your card details never touch our servers.
1. What we collect
Account: your email address and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our auth provider, Supabase).
Your chess data: the openings, lines, practice results, and review schedules you create.
Optional usernames: if you link a chess.com or lichess username, we store it so imports are one click. Your games are fetched from those sites' public APIs directly by your browser — we store only the lines you choose to save, plus a count of game reviews used (for free-plan limits).
Payments: handled entirely by Stripe. We store your subscription status and Stripe customer reference — never card numbers.
Analytics: Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and aggregate — no cross-site tracking, no advertising identifiers.
2. What we use it for
To run the service (sync your repertoire across devices, schedule reviews, enforce plan limits), to process subscriptions, to answer your support emails, and to understand aggregate usage. That's it.
3. What we never do
We don't sell or rent your personal data, we don't show ads, and we don't share your data with third parties except the processors below.
4. Processors we rely on
Supabase (database & authentication), Vercel (hosting & cookieless analytics), and Stripe (payments). Each receives only what it needs for its job. Engine analysis (Stockfish) runs locally in your browser — positions you analyze are never sent to a server.
5. Cookies
We use only the session cookies required to keep you signed in. No tracking or advertising cookies.
6. Your rights and your data
You can export your full repertoire as PGN anytime from the app. To correct or delete your account and all associated data, email us and we'll take care of it promptly. Depending on where you live (e.g. EU/UK GDPR, California CCPA) you may have additional rights to access, correct, or erase your data — email us to exercise them.
7. Retention and security
We keep your data while your account exists and delete it when you ask us to close your account (payment records are retained as required by law). Data is stored with access controls (row-level security) so accounts can only read their own data.
8. Children
OpeningDrill is not directed at children under 13.
